hikaye Samanyolu galaksimizde uzak bir gelecekte 35. yüzyılda olur. Diğer bilim kurgu hikayelerinden farklı olarak yabancı uygarlıklar yok :Galaksinin diğer bölgelerine insanlar yerleşmiş yaşıyordur. 150 yıl boyunca iki kuvvetli uzay güçleri Galaksi imparatorluğu ve özgür gezegen ittifakı aralıklı olarak birbirleri ile savaşır.
Galaksi imparatorluğunun içinde 19. yüzyıl Prusya’sına dayalı hırslı bir silahlı kuvvetler dehası Reinhard Von Müsel büyük bir güce yükselir. Özgür gezegen ittifakı tüm galaksiyi özgürleştirmek istemektedir onları yoketmelidir.
Özgür gezegen ittifakının dehası ise Yang Wen-Li dir.Tarihçi olmak ister ama silahlı kuvvetlere katılmıştır. Çünkü öğrenim için paraya ihtiyacı vardır. O silahlı kuvvetlerde hızlı bir şekilde ilerlemiştir ve stratejilerini mükemmel bir şekilde kanıtlamış ve Amiral olmuştur. Bu iki amiral birbirlerine saygı göstermiştir.
