Kikyo, yaratıklara müthiş güç ve ölümsüzlük veren Shikon No Tama adlı taşı korumaktadır. Inuyasha bu taşı çalmak üzereyken Kikyo onu sihirli okuyla vurarak ağaca saplar. Aradan 500 yıl geçtikten sonra ailesiyle beraber yaşayan lise öğrencisi Kagome adlı bir kız evlerinin yakınında bulunan bir barakanın içindeki kuyuya düşerek kendini başka bir diyarda bulur. Inuyasha'yı ağaca saplı olarak bulur aradan 50 yıl geçmiştir. Oku çıkararak Inuyasha'yı uyandırır. Kagome'nin üzerinde dedesinin ona verdiği Shikon No Tama kolyesi bulunmaktadır.Düştüğü ortamda birkaç canavar bu kolyeyi ele geçirmeye çalışırken kolye yüzlerce parçaya ayrılıp dünyanın dört bi tarafına dağılır. Bu parçaları toplama görevinde Kagome'ye Inuyasha yardım eder. Bu yolculukta bir çok macera ve olaylarla karşı karşıya kalacaklardır..
