Kurami ve Baku Mary ülkesinin zindanında hapistedirler. Birgün sihirli enstrümanlarla bir melodi oluşturarak hapishaneden kaçarlar. Onlar insanların dünyasına giderek kötü güçlerini kullanarak insanların kabuslar görmesini sağlamaktadır. Bu olaylarla beraber melodim onların kaçışlarından şüphelenir ve o da onların elinden insanların rüyalarını kurtarmak ve onları tutuklamak için insanların dünyasına gider.
Yumegaoka şehrinde Kromi orada yaşayan insanlara kabuslar gösterir. Kromi onların dileklerini yerine getireceğini söylerek onları kandırır ve Melodi Anahtarını karanlık rüyalar yapmakta kullanır.
Diğer bir yandan melodim Yumemigaoka şehrine giderek Yumeno Uta adında bir kızla tanışır ve bu kız bir ilkokul öğrencisidir. Yumeno, melodime karanlık güçleri durdurmak için yardım eder. Melodim onunla birlikte yaşamaya başlar. Daha sonra melodim ve Yumeno, Kromi'nin açtığı sorunlarla uğraşmaktadırlar. Yumeno'nun ailesi, arkadaşları ve tanıdığı herkes kötü kabusların kurbanı olmakla sorunlar artmaya başlar.
